Why Sunday needs 26 hours.

I don't sleep in. I never have, and on the few occasions I am not up by 7 am (maybe because one of us was sick, or we stayed up past 9:15 pm the night before), I spend my time stressing and fretting that I just won't get enough done. Laundry, house cleaning, a trip to Kroger, or maybe some fun event that I try to squeeze in every fourth month...there just isn't time to get ready for the week.

Sundays are not really part of the weekend for me. Well, half of Sunday is. The other half? It is Pre-Monday all the way. I cook for the week, I select outfits, make lists of the crap that I have to get done that week, and somehow, I even manage to look at the work calendar and hope I have what I need for that first appointment Monday Morning.  Unlike other people, I nearly welcome Monday am, as I know once it hits, it is a fast paced train wreck that I can't get out from under until Friday about 5 pm.
My child (sitting in the first 'pew' of the courtroom) asks, "but what did he do?" when the magistrate told the defendant the potential sentencing of a relatively minor drug charge.  "He used illegal drugs, got caught, and now has to own up to it", I replied.  "Why would he do that if it was illegal?"  LOL.  The million dollar question from the mouth of babes.  Let's talk again when you are 15 or 16 my young son.

The Bewitching Hour?

In the last 30 days, I have heard this term several times.  I have often equated it with a very young child, the time in the afternoon, hours after the last nap, but not yet time for bed. All heck breaks loose. Dinner is over, TV <gasp> isn't appropriate for the age group, nerves (mine) are frayed, but unless I like 3 am wake up calls, it just isn't time for bed.

I have had the occasional 8 am phone call, and it begins with "I think this is the bewitching hour....right"? referencing that window of time between dropping off my little guy to the bus depot, but before starting my professional day.

My good friend, Adam D, says the hour between 9 and 10 am is best for reaching people. People are in the office, arranging their day, but not actively IN their day, and are reachable by phone. Adam D won't schedule appointments with people, instead he works the phones. People are fresh, available, and ready to talk.

I am going to try this, too.  Can I call you?
